Year 1 Message:

Year 1 have been working so hard at home for the past 3 weeks and we are so proud of all the amazing work they have been doing! We decided to do a little message for the NHS and Critical Workers who are working so hard everyday!

To all NHS workers and all the critical workers, we want to say a huge thank you for the amazing work you are all doing. These are tough and scary times, but you have shown incredible strength and courage every day. We are so grateful for everything you are doing.

You are all superheroes and we believe in you.

Thanks, Year One Blessed Dominic.

Important:

A very happy new year to you all!! We hope you all had a lovely and restful Christmas break! Schools will remain closed until the 18th of January and so we will be returning to online learning for the first two weeks of the Spring term.

Online learning will now be done through Google Classroom. Your child’s log-ins are stuck into their reading records.

All children must log on every day and complete the assigned tasks. All the information you need and the timetable for the daily activities can be found below.

Phonics Resources

Please find below some useful phonics resources. I will continue to add to these resources weekly. I hope these are of use to you.

We follow the Letters and Sounds Phonics Scheme in school. This document shows the scheme and goes through each phase your child will learn and the different things involved. At the end of the document there is also some ideas for games and activities you can do with your child.

Spellings

This year we will be assigning weekly spellings to the children through Readiwriter. The children’s log-ins have been stuck into the front of their reading logs. Each week there will be a list of spellings assigned to your child based on the Year 1 curriculum. These can be found under planned word lists on the children’s account.

Please log in weekly and complete this work with your child.

Harvest Celebration- 17th October 2020

Today marked our annual Harvest Celebration. Due to the current situation we were unable to do our usual Grandparents Afternoon Tea. Instead we had a non-uniform day and brought in some food items for charities who are helping people through a difficult. We want to say a huge thank you to everyone for their extremely generous donations. We are overwhelmed by the kindness and support you have all shown!!

We also made some lovely cards for all our amazing grand-parents!

 Our visit to the Church

We visited our local church following our topic Beginning with the Church. We looked around finding things we have been learning about at school.  We saw the font where babies are baptised and the baptism candle.

We were lucky to have Father Brain show us around the church!
