Success Criteria:

Review your plan and writing from yesterday’s lesson.

Think about how you are going to begin your next paragraph.

Using your plan, continue with your stories. You should complete them in this lesson.

Remember, your final paragraph reverts back to the classroom. Think about how you could let the reader know that you were daydreaming in class for the whole story.

Could the teacher ask you a question? Maybe the person beside you asks you for help? Perhaps the fire alarm is sounded? Think of a way to end your daydream and return to the present. Be creative!

Today you are going to plan a narrative based on a daydream.

Think about the points below for your story:

Use the story mountain template to plan your own narrative. Your story tells the reader about your ambitions but reveals that it is a daydream at the end – like the video that you have just watched.

You could start your story in the midst of some action (during a football game is your dream is to become a professional footballer) but the final paragraphs reverts back to the classroom to indicate to the reader that it was all a daydream.

LO: To retrieve and infer information from a text

Success Criteria:

Take out your brown SATS Practice Paper and open booklet Set B. Read through the questions based on the text “A Treacherous Portrait.” Highlight the key words in the questions and look at how many marks are allocated to each question (this gives you an idea of how much detail you need to give). Remember to include evidence from the text for the 2 and 3 mark questions.
Once you have completed all of the questions, mark your answers using the marking scheme.

Today you are going to create a list of metaphors based on a colour of your choice.

Choose a colour. Write a list of descriptions that you could compare that colour to. Make sure you avoid using boring vocabulary. The reader should be able to work out which colour you have described from your descriptions. Be imaginative! This will be helpful for tomorrow’s writing lesson.

Matthew’s structure: The kingdom of heaven is like a……. Just as Jesus told parables drawing on the life experiences of his contemporaries, we can draw on their own experiences and life situations.
