Mrs Stagg, Miss Mendonca and myself, Miss Mullan are very happy with how happy and content all the children are in their learning environment. Each morning we are greeted with bright smiles which is a beautiful way to start each day. Each day the children are creatively engaged in their own learning. This provides us with many opportunities to observe learning and see how the children take forward previous learning taught during adult learning.
On this page you will find information about what the children have been learning throughout their curriculum and how you can support your child at home.
We are currently working our way through Phase 2 of Letters and Sounds. You can access information on the phonemes we are learning via www.lettersandsounds.com
Set 1: s, a, t, p
Set 2: i, n, m, d
Set 3: g, o, c, k
Set 4: ck, e, u, r
Set 5: h, b, f, ff, l, ll, ss
The children are encouraged to use their knowledge of the letter sounds to blend and sound out words. For example, they will blend the sounds s-a-t to make the word sat. We are also learning our Tricky Words and the children love to sing their Tricky Word song. This can be found on YouTube Tricky Words and Sight Words song. Your child will recognise the tune straight away.
We will be sharing with you very soon a date for a Phonic Parent Workshop this term.
In the meantime, please save the date 26th November for our Resilent Reader Parent Workshop taking place from 14:30-16:00.
