TfL Explorers

Our dedicated TfL Explorers have been proactive in making a real difference to active and sustainable travel across our school community.

Working together as a team, they have helped to celebrate the continued success of our School Street, which have had a positive impact on the number of children and families choosing active ways to travel to school. They have also continued to promote the Park and Ride scheme at the RAF, encouraging our community to think about safer and more sustainable ways to travel. 

During Road Safety Week, our TfL Explorers became road safety champions, visiting classes, creating colourful promotional materials and coming up with their own fun activities and ideas to share with other pupils. They have also had an important voice in consultations with staff and pupils, helping us identify and respond to safety concerns such as safe road crossings, wearing high-visibility vests and showing good travel etiquette when using public transport. 

Our ambassadors have also developed their understanding of air quality through the use of air quality monitors provided through the Mayor of London’s air quality initiatives. They used what they learned to create informative PowerPoint presentations and share their messages with other pupils to mark Clean Air Day, helping to raise awareness of the importance of clean air and the links between our travel choices, our health and our environment.

Most recently, our TFL Explorers have helped launch Street Tag, a new Barnet initiative, which encourages children and families to get active and make sustainable travel choices in a fun and inclusive way. 

At Blessed Dominic our TFL Explorers are show great enthusiasm, creativity and leadership as part of their role. They inspire our whole school community to travel safely, stay active and make choices that are better for our health and our environment.
