Governing Body
Governing Body: Welcome
I have been a member of the Governing Board of this wonderful school since 2014 and became Chair of Governors in 2016. My background is in Catholic education and I taught English at our neighbours, Saint James’ Catholic High School, for thirty eight years. In addition to chairing the Governing Board, I am a member of each of the three committees that oversee the work of the school. I retired from full-time work in July 2015, though my association with Blessed Dominic Catholic Primary School dates back even further: I worked as an unestablished teacher at the school for a term in the summer of 1973 prior to entering higher education. The school had just opened at that time and it seems to be the completion of a circle as we approach the closure of this site in 2019. In addition to my duties as governor at Blessed Dominic, I also am employed as clerk to the governors at Saint James’ and at the Annunciation Junior School in Burnt Oak. I am strongly committed to each child having a communal experience of Christ as part of this wonderful, diverse community. The purpose of our school is provide experiences both in and outside the classroom that prepare our children to make the most of their life chances and develop into responsible contributors to society. Parents are a child’s first educators and I thus see the connection between home and school as an essential part of the mission of Blessed Dominic Catholic Primary School
