Governing Body
Governing Body: Welcome
A very warm welcome to you from the Governors of Blessed Dominic Catholic Primary School in Colindale. Blessed Dominic is very proud to be a wonderful, bright, modern state of the art Catholic primary school, where children are taught in an open, safe, encouraging Catholic environment. All of the school’s policies and procedures put Christ at the centre. To quote the front of the school’s website, “love, learn, believe”.
Governors are responsible for developing and maintaining the Catholic character of the school. Governors also review the Curriculum and Standards of what is taught in the school, the Strategy and Finances of the school and the Operations of the school which includes Safeguarding, Child Protection and Faith. A strong governing body is not due to the work of any single individual but is a team effort. We are extremely fortunate at Blessed Dominic to have a wide experience from governors.
The website provides an overview of the wide range of activities, news and policies of the school and we hope you find it useful. Please feel free to contact the school should you have any queries for either the school or for the School Governors. If you have, or are considering, applying for your children to attend Blessed Dominic may we wish them a happy, enjoyable, successful Catholic Primary Education at the school.

Stephen Frayne
Chair of Governors
Background: I have been a member of the Governing Board of this wonderful school since 2014 and became Chair of Governors in 2016. My background is in Catholic education and I taught English at our neighbours, Saint James’ Catholic High School, for thirty eight years.
Personal Statement: In addition to chairing the Governing Board, I am a member of each of the three committees that oversee the work of the school. I retired from full-time work in July 2015, though my association with Blessed Dominic Catholic Primary School dates back even further: I worked as an unestablished teacher at the school for a term in the summer of 1973 prior to entering higher education. The school had just opened at that time and it seems to be the completion of a circle as we approach the closure of this site in 2019. In addition to my duties as governor at Blessed Dominic, I also am employed as clerk to the governors at Saint James’ and at the Annunciation Junior School in Burnt Oak. I am strongly committed to each child having a communal experience of Christ as part of this wonderful, diverse community. The purpose of our school is provide experiences both in and outside the classroom that prepare our children to make the most of their life chances and develop into responsible contributors to society. Parents are a child’s first educators and I thus see the connection between home and school as an essential part of the mission of Blessed Dominic Catholic Primary School.
Laurence Fox
Local Authority Governor Teaching and Learning Committee
Background: I am a Local Authority Governor and have been a senior leader in secondary schools for nearly a decade. I started my career at Wren Academy Finchley as a Maths teacher where I subsequently became a Head of House. I am currently an Assistant Principal at another Barnet All-Through School where I have previously been the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), Pastoral Lead and named SENDCO.
Personal Statement: I became a Local Authority Governor in 2023 because I wanted to use my experience to benefit another local school. I feel strongly about an equitable offer for all students not matter what their starting points or barriers to learning. I feel it is a privilege to be a Governor at Blessed Dominic Catholic Primary school because teachers and leaders have the highest expectations for all pupils. Pupils at the school have a love of learning and are fully enabled to fulfil their potential. In my role as a Governor I want to ensure Blessed Dominic Catholic Primary school continues to provide an excellent education and maintains its ‘outstanding’ status.
