Sun Safety

Summer Uniform & Sun Safety – Important Information for Parents
As the weather gets warmer, we encourage all children to wear their summer uniform, especially as it can become particularly hot during break and lunchtime.

Sun Safety Guidelines

To help keep your child safe and comfortable during hot weather, please follow the guidance below:

Sunscreen

Apply sunscreen at home before your child comes to school.

Choose a broad-spectrum sunscreen with a 5-star UVA rating and a minimum of SPF 30+ for the best protection.

Think of sunscreen like paint on a textured wall—it may need two coats for full coverage.

Use a 24-hour, water-resistant sunscreen that suits your child’s skin. There are gentle formulations available specifically for babies and young children.

Don’t forget key areas such as shoulders, ears, nose, cheeks, and the tops of feet.

In most cases, one application before school is enough to protect your child throughout the school day.

Hats

Please ensure your child brings a sunhat to school every day.

All hats must be named.

Water Bottles

Send your child to school with a named water bottle to help them stay hydrated.

While water fountains are available, personal bottles are more effective, especially in hot weather

At School

We will limit outdoor activities during the hottest parts of the day.

Children will be encouraged to drink water regularly, wear their hats, and spend breaks in shaded areas.

If you have any questions or concerns, please speak to your child’s class teacher in the first instance. They will be happy to support you and guide you to further help if needed.

Thank you for working with us to keep all our children safe, healthy, and happy as we enjoy the summer months together!
