Mission statement & School values

Our Catholic Identity, Charism and Mission

At Blessed Dominic Catholic Primary School, our Catholic identity lies at the heart of everything we do. Our charism reflects the unique spiritual life of our school, inspired by the teachings and traditions of the Catholic Church.

We are committed to nurturing the whole child spiritually, intellectually, emotionally and physically within a caring and faith-filled community. Through our shared values and daily practice of faith, we support every pupil in growing closer to God and living out the teachings of Jesus Christ.

Living Our Catholic Charism

Our Catholic charism is expressed through all aspects of school life:

  • A strong sense of community, where everyone is valued and supported
  • Moral and ethical development, guided by Gospel values
  • Prayer and worship, embedded into daily routines
  • Religious education, deepening understanding of faith
  • Service and social justice, encouraging pupils to care for others

We actively promote our charism by integrating Catholic values into the curriculum and wider school life. Our school values, Kindness, Respect, iInclusive, Forgiveness, Honesty and Resilience, are celebrated and recognised through weekly achievement assembly. These values underpin all that we do and shape the way we learn, grow and treat one another.

Spiritual Formation

We place great importance on the spiritual development of our pupils. Through prayer, reflection, liturgy, and participation in the life of the Church, children are supported in developing a personal relationship with God.

Role Models and Mentorship

Our staff and pupil leadership model the teachings of Christ in their daily interactions. They guide and support pupils in living out their faith with confidence, compassion and integrity.

Service and Social Justice

Inspired by Catholic Social Teaching, we encourage our pupils to serve others and stand up for justice. Through charitable activities and community initiatives, children learn the importance of compassion, responsibility and action.

Mission Statement

At Blessed Dominic’s, we strive to help each child grow spiritually, socially, emotionally and academically. We aim to create a school where children learn to work and play together, take responsibility for their choices, and grow in the knowledge and love of God.

Our mission statement: “To show love, promote learning and believe in God our Father,” encompasses what we want our pupils to:

  • Know and live out our Catholic values
  • Develop a personal relationship with God
  • Gain the knowledge and skills to contribute positively to society
  • Foster a strong sense of community
  • Promote social justice
  • Live their faith with confidence in the wider world

We bring our mission to life through our school values, shared experiences, community events and opportunities to serve others.

Our Catholic Curriculum

At Blessed Dominic Catholic Primary School, we are committed to delivering a curriculum that is fully rooted in Catholic values and teachings. Our approach ensures that every pupil receives a comprehensive education that nurtures both academic excellence and spiritual growth.

Integration Across the Curriculum

We embed Catholic beliefs and values throughout all areas of learning. Religious Education is a core subject, where pupils explore scripture, tradition, morality, and the sacraments in depth, guided by the teachings of the Catholic Church. Our skilled staff thoughtfully weave religious content and Catholic perspectives into lessons across the curriculum.

Daily Practice of Faith

Our Catholic identity is lived out each day through:

  • Prayer and reflection
  • Collective worship
  • Celebration of Mass
  • Observance of feast days and the Church’s liturgical year

These experiences and practices foster a strong sense of community and belonging and spiritual growth.

Working with the Diocese

We work closely with the Diocese of Westminster to ensure our curriculum reflects official Catholic teaching and meets diocesan expectations, maintaining high standards and fidelity to the Catholic faith across all areas of school life.

A Holistic Catholic Education

By integrating Catholic teachings into every subject and aspect of school life, and by embedding prayer and worship into our routines, we provide a truly holistic education. Our aim is to nurture children who are knowledgeable, compassionate and faith-filled—ready to make a positive contribution to society.
